The Department of Ophthalmology at the National University Hospital (NUH) holds the proud distinction of being Singapore’s first university-affiliated eye department within a hospital. Founded forty years ago with a bold vision to build world-class eye care for Singapore and the region, it has grown into a leading centre of ophthalmic excellence — grounded in clinical and academic rigour, and driven by compassion and innovation.

Today, our work spans the full spectrum of ophthalmology, supported by dedicated allied health and nursing teams. Together, we manage some of the most complex conditions in eye, vision care—from severe trauma and rare orbital and ocular tumours, to emerging challenges such as myopia, as well as advancing innovations such as the Paul Glaucoma Implant.

This is made possible through strong multidisciplinary collaborations across specialties, and a shared commitment to advancing patient care, education, and research. Over the decades, these efforts have also shaped a vibrant global platform, bringing clinicians, scientists, and educators together through our international scientific meetings.

Hosting the inaugural EUGOGO Teaching Course outside Europe as part of our 40th Anniversary is a testament to NUH’s growing role in global ophthalmology, and to Singapore’s position as a gateway for collaboration across Asia and beyond.

It is in this spirit that we invite you to the NUH International Ophthalmology Scientific Congress 2026, taking place from 22 to 25 October 2026. Guided by the theme “Shaping Tomorrow’s Vision,” the Congress will bring together global leaders across subspecialties to exchange ideas, share breakthroughs and advance care, from bench to bedside, and from local practice to regional impact.

As demand for advanced eye care continues to grow across Asia, the opportunity and responsibility to collaborate has never been greater.
